Spinning Seat! This is a bit of a strange angle but it shows the little wooden folding stool that I use to sit on when spinning... with the nice fluffy pillow to cushion my hiney when I spin for any length of time. I got the stool for camping and have found that it works great for spinning. I'm short at just a half inch under 5 feet tall so I don't need a regular height chair most of the time. Usually, when I do use a regular height chair, I have to sit close to the edge so my feet will touch the floor or the treadles. hehehehe I've seen other spinning stools for sale... even a droolable spinning chair that matches an extremely expensive custom made wheel but those latter two are something I only dream about. The tweedy purplish color roving now fills 3 full bobbins and I'm filling the forth one. I purchased 2 pounds of the roving as I want to ply the yarn and knit a top for myself. I love the color and am hoping that it will ply up to make a nice soft yarn. Then I have more spinning to do. For those of you who spin, do you find that you get into a spinning binge, making a lot of yarn, then you go on a knitting binge or do you find that you spin then knit what you spin?

Spinning Spinning Spinning! Here is the start of the bobbin with some of the Wildberry roving. It's amazing to see a multi-colored roving turn into a beautiful tweedy single. Since this picture was taken, I have filled 2 bobbins and have started on the third. I bought 2 pounds of this roving since my end goal is to make a short sleeved, v-necked top for myself. It's going to be interesting to see what the final size of the yarn will be. Right now, I'm thinking it will wind up being sport weight though I have to be careful since I seem to be spinning thinner and thinner singles the more time I spend spinning. This is such an addictive hobby! I only have 5 bobbins and am already looking at getting more since I had some leftover of the multi colored single I spun to ply with the white. I've heard that you can make a center pull ball and then ply from each end and I might give this a try since it will help with the leftover singles problem that it looks like I might be having. Does that sound like a possibility?
