I need your help . . .

Yes, that's a 20 gig iPOD. The information on how to get one was on our local news with interviews and the like... saying this is legitimate. You don't have to buy anything but you do have to jump through so hoops. Agree to some ads in the mail and sign up for one additional thing. Most offers are free or inexpensive.

Yes, I'm trying for this just to see if it works as well as because I really would love to have an iPod, even if it's the small 20 gig one and not the 40 gig one. For free with some hoop jumping, I'm willing to give it a try.

I need 5 friends to join and do the same hoop jumping so I will get all my requirements done.

Please, give it a try. Nothing ventured and nothing gained and we all just might be lucky and get our iPods. (though I don't know if it's available outside of the US)

Here's the link you need to use so I get the credit: Free iPod

Please :)

It's getting there!!!

I'm almost done. I have one more row of trim to put around the neckline then I need to hem the sleeves and the bottom of the dress.

I love my mannequin. It has made doing fittings easier since it really pretty close to my build. Short and wide. LOL I'm no seamstress. I can and do make my own uniform tops but they are so simple compared to the dresses worn in the SCA.

Once the finishing work is done on the underdress, I'll cut out the red fabric for the overdress and get to working on it.

I miss my knitting! ! ! ! Hey, wait, I always can take a Knitting for Mental Health Break! That's the idea! I need a mental health break.... Where are my needles? Where's my yarn! AAAaaahhhhh, there they are... time for a break.

Be sure to take a Knitting for Mental Health Break of your own!

Sorry sorry sorry ! ! !

Wow, I had no idea how long it had been since my last post! Time has just flown by and I sure can't say that it's been boring.

I have been knitting but no pictures of that since it's not been that much, sadly. As you can see from this picture, I finally got started on my dress for the MidWinter Celebration for my SCA group. I need to have it done ASAP so I'll quit worrying about it. The Celebration isn't till.... aaaaaarrrrggggghhhhhhhh It's in THREE WEEKS!!!!! aarrrgggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Any way, the underdress is a sueded Bedford silk in winter white. As you can see, it's only half done... well maybe a bit less since none of the hemming has been done and no trim has been added.

Will I get it done? I will get a lot done this weekend if I quit procrastinating, if I don't get called in for more than the one case we have scheduled at work tomorrow (I'm on call this 4 day holiday weekend), if my knitting quits whining that I'm not paying any attention to it... if if if if

Heck, I just wish I didn't doubt my sewing skills so darned much. Knitting I can do... sewing... I can follow a pattern and do basic stuff. Sewing a 12th century dress... you will have to be the judges of that ability.

I can tell you one thing for sure, this silk underdress is going to feel sinful to wear. It's SOFT in capital letters and it drapes beautifully! Definitely too thin to wear without something over it, though.

Sure hope you all had a Happy Thanksgiving! Ours was wonderful... family, good food and I finally got started on my dress.

Hugs, Everyone!

Fabric Aggravation!

First off, some knitting news! The blue and green scarf is done as well as this one. This picture is of yet another scarf for her to give for Christmas. This one is Bernat Soft Boulce' in color 929 which is dark brown and a medium brown, along with a strand of Lion Brand Fun Fur in Black.

It's just a regular garter stitch scarf on size 13 needles. I felt like I was using boomsticks but it did turn out nice and soft. It's long enough to wrap over the head and around the neck for added warmth.

Here is the selection of fabric for my 12th Century dress. Far left is Violet Wool Crepe. It's actually a nice dark plum color. I would have liked something brighter but I think this will work for the Mantel.

Next is the fabric for the overdress. Linen look silk in a herringbone weave pattern. Nice and soft. Yes, I have a red dress already but it's a color that I do look good in and I like the pattern in the fabric.

You barely can see the white fabric for the underdress. It's Sueded Bedford Silk. Thinner than the fabric that I wanted originally but... and here is the aggravating part... that one was sold out when I tried to place my order. That's one of the pitfalls of ordering online. The other aggravation was that I had found a beautiful emerald green flannel wool for the mantel but, again, it was sold out by the time I placed my order. Guess you need to be fast with these places!!

I ordered the fabric from Denver Fabrics. Now, I just have to wait and keep my fingers crossed that all the fabric that I ordered will be in stock in the amounts that I ordered so I can get to working on this dress. :)

Oh, the fabric for my veil is going to be out of Silk Habotai. I am debating on doing the hemming in plain thread or maybe in gold metallic thread to add a slight sparkle at the edge.

Free time? What free time! I don't have no stinking free time........ though I would love to ::giggle::

Frilly Fru Fru

My friend at work picked up this yarn and asked me to make another scarf..... I love mindless knitting! This one will be a keyhole one and I love the colors. :) The first one were for a daughter and niece... this one is for another daughter.

Ruby, I have found the fabric for the underdress. Sueded silk twill in white and it's sinfully soft. I'm also ordering some white Silk Habotai for my veil. For that, I'm actually thinking of doing the rolled hem with metallic silver thread so there is a tiny bit of sparkle to it. I'm sending for 3 more swatches of fabric that I really am keeping my fingers crossed will work for the over-dress, mantle and lining. I have less than 6 weeks to get this all done and I'm about ready to scream!

I'm a better knitter than seamstress any day. I can sew basic things but I feel I lack the imagination and creativity to sew period clothing. I'll try to take a picture of it as I work on it or, at least, when it's done. It's gonna be an interesting creation with me behind the sewing machine!

Keep your fingers crossed... or your knitting needles! I'm going to need all the help I can get!

I love my Physical Therapist!

Something to make you smile. A pile of Kittens. Actually only 2 but they were so cute all curled up together sleeping. No, they aren't mine.

One of these days I'll have a Cat and a Dog. Until then, at least I have friends who let me have visitation rights to their pets. :)

On to the reason for the headline above....

I have to admit that not knitting for 2 weeks helped make my right wrist feel better. Much less numbness but, sleeping on my right side.. I would wake up with my hand numb and arm aching. Drying hair... hand would go numb. Driving the car... hand would go numb... hhuummmm.

Thank heavens I work in a hospital. Talked to my favorite Physical Therapist and she said that many people are miss-diagnosed with carpal tunnel when it's much further up. She knows I have had 2 work related shoulder injuries and her key was when I said that not only my wrist hurt and my hand was numb, but my forearm and upper arm would hurt.

She had me do 3 simple exercises and ... WOW!!! I think there's an improvement!

I just started this past Friday and, already, I have only woken up once a night with my arm numb instead of 2-3 times. I can knit for short periods with no numbness. Driving the car and it takes longer for my hand to go numb... and so it goes.

It's not 100% yet but I do the exercises whenever I have a few minutes... trying to do them a minimum of 4 times a day.

Hey, who turned the heat off? Our temperature has been 31-32 degrees F at night recently. At least it's great weather for Knitting!
