Look what came in the mail yesterday! Noro Kureyon #87 is on the right and #124 is on the left. #87 is going to be another Roundtrip sweater, most likely.

On the Roundtrip that I'm currently working on, I'm on round 66 of the second sleeve. There are a total of about 135-140 rounds in the sleeves as I'm making them full length. I will try the jacket on once the second sleeve is a little closer to the end so I can tell whether to go with 135 or 140 rounds. My boss is about my size so the fit should be fine. :) Just hope I can get it done by January 9!!!

So much to do and so little time!

Fortunately, I'm on my three days off from work and will be able to knit a little this afternoon (going to a party tonight), and then can knit tomorrow and Friday. :)

I have a job interview on Monday! Wish me luck!!!!!

Happy New Year's everyone!!

I'm still busy working on my roundtrip jacket but not much to take a picture of right now.

Here is a nice group of ladies chatting away before the feast began. Many times, these bigger events are the only time you get to see many of your SCA friends since the Kingdom of the Outlands extends from El Paso, Texas up into Wyoming and part way into Nebraska!

Since the building we hold MidWinter in is just rented, we can't have real stained glass windows. Our artiseans use their skill and make panels that slide into the actual windows making them look like stained glass.

I'm almost finished with the first sleeve but have already started the second sleeve. The reason the first sleeve didn't get finished is because I was riding in the truck and couldn't try the sweater on to check the new length of the sleeve. I was not comfortable with the 3/4 length so took off the cuff that I had finished and added between 2.5 and 3 inches so it should reach my wrist.

As for yesterday's trip... wooo hooo, Glorietta Pass during a snow storm... beautiful but dangerous!! I wish I had had my camera with me as there were patches where I could have gotten some nice pictures... oh well.... hind sight.

I ordered color #87 on Friday so we will see how fast Webs is about getting the yarn here. Great deal as I got the 25% discount for ordering 2 bags of 10 skeins.... I also ordered color #124... shades of red and purple... but I have no idea what I'll make out of that yet. hehehe

Happy knitting everyone and I hope that everyone hasn't waited till the last minute to do their shopping.... my last minute job is wrapping. hehehehe

And now for some knitting content! This is Noro Kureyon #74 and is the back of the Roundtrip jacket from Knitter's Fall 2003 issue.

I absolutely love the colors of this and am now debating on whether to finish this and give it to my boss who is retiring and make another for me out of either #131

or #87

How about everyone putting their suggestions in the comments.

Yes, I'm still knitting but not enough for a good picture yet so here are more of my friends from our MidWinter Feast celebration.

This is Mistress Claudia in her wonderful finery!

People have created personas in the SCA (Society for Creative Anachronism) from many different countries.

This is Sir Asad, the head of our SCA family. He's been a member of the SCA for around 27 years. I've only been playing for 3 years and still have much to learn.

Thank heavens my knitting skill is period. I'm able to work on my knitting while at events. Even watching the fighting, I much prefer to have my knitting handy.

For those who have asked what I look like, here is a picture of me from our Midwinter Feast, December 13, 2003. Yup, yesterday.

My dress is late 1500 English. The overcoat is silk brocade and the under dress that you can't see very well, it duponi silk.

I hope to have some close ups of the detail for you later as there is some beautiful hand beading on it and the under dress also has some wonderful detail.

A big thank you to the friends who either didn't recognize me or who realized I had lost a lot of weight. 18 pounds so far and still dropping!!

I'll be posting more of the pictures from the Midwinter event for everyone to enjoy.

On the knitting front, I am on row 30 of the first sleeve of the RoundTrip Sweater. I love this pattern! Very unusual construction and I love the yarn.

Happy knitting, everyone! I love hearing from all of you so please feel free to use the comments.

As promised, here is a picture of the Cat Gansey with sleeves. All the ends are woven in. Now, I just need to box the two Gansey's with their matching hats and they are ready for Saturday. Where has the time disappeared to????

Now, I get to work on my Roundtrip. The bottom of the back has now been attached to the band so I have 240 grater rows to do before attaching the top of the back.

This seems to be really working up faster than the Ganseys... of course, it probably is since the yarn is larger and I'm using size 7's hehehe

How close is everyone to having their Holiday gifts done?

Here is the start of the garter stitch band for Roundtrip. I'm to the point where you start attaching it to the back of the sweater but.... ::sigh:: I promised myself I would get the ends woven in on my gansey sweaters. I'm almost done with one then I'll, at least, start the other one before bed.

After all of that, the only thing left will be wrapping the packages to have ready for Saturday.

Sorry for the short note but I need to get back to weaving ends. Happy Knitting!!!

Hello, everyone!

I've had a few requests for the pattern that I used for the Seaman's Cap. You can find it here at The Needlebeetle .

I did make some modifications since I made mine out of DK weight yarn and I used 2 circular needles to knit the cap like you do when knitting socks on 2 circulars. In the original pattern, there also is a fold line that you knit in when doing the ribbing and I omitted that.

For the DK weight, I cast on 128 stitches on the US #3's Addi Turbo's and knit 33 rounds of 2x2 ribbing, then switched to the US #5's, knitting till the cap was 7.5 inches total before starting the decreases. For the decreases, I started with K 14, k2tog all around and pretty much followed the decreasing pattern in the original pattern. :)

It's a great pattern and actually, takes me about 2 days to knit it.

I've finished the back part of the Roundtrip and have started the garter stitch band. So far, I'm really liking this pattern!

As for my Perfect Pouch... I got a bunch knitted on it then decided that I want to frog it and start over. Just a little something in it that bothers me... the skein I used has a knot it in and you actually can see where the color transition isn't quite right....I'm going to start over and see about fixing that. :)

Thank you all for the comments! I love hearing from people who read my blog!

Hurray!!! I got to start my Roundtrip jacket. After a few people sent comments, I'm making the large size, especially since my gauge is 4.5 x 6.5. I'm using color 74 and it's turning out very nice.

This is a great distraction which I need right now... no stitch pattern to follow and mess up when you are taking narcotics. eheheh What that means is that, thanks to my very very, extremely highly stressful job, I broke out with Shingles. If any of you have ever had them, they HURT. My Dr. has me off for the week and I don't have to return till Monday. Boss isn't happy but I have the note to prove that he wanted me off. Heck, he actually wanted me off for 2 weeks but we compromised with just this week. He actually said, "You need 2 weeks off, to win the lottery and you really need to find a less stressful job."

Oh well, I'll enjoy the week off and see what knitting I can get done. It's surprising, the medication he gave me for pain doesn't really mess up my knitting, it slows me down. hehehe

Keep on knitting, everyone!! Get those Holiday projects done so you can start something for yourself! It feels great!

Here is the Seaman's Cap that goes with the Cat Gansey. You can roll the brim part to make it shorter if you like. This is a super easy pattern and actually takes me about 2 days to make. Originally the pattern I found was for Worsted weight but the yarn I used for the Gansey was DK weight so I had to recalculate things. I've tried it on and it fits nicely.

I really like the star effect that the decreases have at the top of the hat. I knitted the Seaman's Cap similar to how you knit socks, using two circular needles.

I got home too late from errands to do pictures outside and I know the gansey pattern won't show up well unless it's in sunlight so I'll try to get a picture of it tomorrow.

So many things to do and so few hours in the day ! ! ! ! Are your Holiday Knitting Projects done? Save for the weaving in of all the ends on the now two completed Gansey sweaters, I am done! Hurray!!!!

Happy knitting, everyone!
