Here is a progress picture of my double sized Booga_J bag. I'm on round 57 of 100 for the sides. Thanks to Rob at ThreadBear, I'll have the extra yarn I need to finish it since I only have 2 skeins left right now. Hurray!!!! I'm also going to get some more Noro Kureyon to make some single sized bags as gifts and then there is a new pattern coming out that I want to make, too.

I get a feeling my Credit Card is going to be smoking or melting. hehehehehe

I got the sleeve recast on for the Cat Gansey and am working on that when I'm home. It needs to be done by December 13 so I'm doing pretty well, just have the sleeves and the matching cap to finish. Then, it's on to something else.... The Queen Elizabeth I stockings for my friend, for sure, more Booga_J bags and the pouch and and and...... LOL

Isn't it fun when you finish something and you are ready to start a new project? Maybe mine will be the RoundTrip jacket for ME!!!

Woops...forgot that I have a pair of socks to finish by MidWinter.... Better get to knitting!

Hope to hear from you! It's always fun to get comments.

No pictures for today as I didn't get home in time to take a picture of the Cat Gansey progress when I got home as it was too dark. The collar is done and I've cast on for the sleeve.... the problem is that I had cast on for the sleeve last night and had done 3 rows but, this am, found that I had miscounted the stitches... I had 31 stitches on each half of the sleeve and I was supposed to have 61 AARRRGGGHHHHH. hehehehe That will teach me to knit after I get home from a long day at work.

I'm currently on my normal 3 days off so I hope to get a bunch more done on the Gansey. Today, though, we had a run to the western part of the state. I take my Booga_J bag for trips like that as there's no counting of anything but the rounds I'm knitting. My problem with the bag is that I think I might run out of yarn! I bought 6 skeins of number 98. Started with 68 stitches and did 60 rows to make a double size bag. The regular size bag is about 8.5 inches high and it takes 68 rounds to do that.... I was thinking of knitting 100 rounds to get close to 12 inches in height. I'm currently on round 56 and I literally only have 2 skeins left! I don't think I have enough yarn to finish up to the 100 rounds and do the i-cord for the handles. Aarrgghhh.

What do you all think??

Bad Girl!!!! That's me. hehehehe I had seen this color of Kureyon the last time I was at the LYS and it kept sticking in my mind saying, "Come back! Buy me! You know I'll make a great RoundTrip Jacket from Knitter's".

It's number 74. Fuchsia, purple, blue, charcoal, and green. Similar to color 89 that I'm making my Booga_J bag out of but just different enough with the additions of the charcoal and the green that it should really be a striking Jacket.

Needless to say, I'm not ready to start knitting on it yet. I would love to but I need to get the other projects done! Might not happen till after the first of the year. :sigh:

Happy knitting, everyone!

I don't know about the rest of you but I love pretty, shiny things and this is perfect for my knitting. This is a locally made stitch marker and I absolutely love it! It's made by a woman who doesn't live far from me... waving at Renee!

She has her own business and you can buy her stitch markers by visiting Limited Editions by Renee. She has lots of different colors and designs to chose from if you want to have something nice and easy to see to help you keep track of where you are in a project.

The project I currently am using it on is my double size Booga_J bag out of Kureyon #89. I've not abandonded the Cat Gansey, in fact, I'm getting ready to do a three needle bind off on the shoulders then pick up the stitches for the collar.

I'm enjoying the Kureyon yarn even though I have found little bits of what look like twigs occassionally, and have found a knot in each of the 3 skeins I have used so far. :( I still want to make the RoundTrip Jacket in the Fall 2003 Knitter's magazine. I just have to #1-figure out which color I want to do it in and #2-find the time to knit it. hehehehe

So many projects and so little knitting time!!!

No knitting pictures for tonight as I'm just working on the front of the Cat Gansey which looks just like the back. :hehehe: Instead, here is Krissi, one of my Niece dogs. She's a white Miniature Schnauzer. Mom had come up stairs into the computer room to visit while I knitted and Krissi and Tasha hopped up into her lap while she sat in her usual chair while we chatted.

Here's Tasha. She had her head resting on the arm of the chair but picked it up when I pointed the camera at her. She's a black Miniature Schnauzer.

No, they aren't my dogs. Both belong to my brother and his wife who are out of town so we are dog-sitting. :)

I'm spending this weekend trying my best to get as much done on the Cat Gansey as possible. Though I enjoy knitting it, I have so many other projects that I want to get started on! hehehe Isn't that always our problem! I'm trying my best to not get Start-itis.

I hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Here is 11.5 ounces of 100% silk yarn. Wow is this stuff soft. It looks like I'll be using US 1's which the tiny swatch I have done, gives me about 6 stitches per inch and a very nice fabric. I just need to get my hiney in gear and get all the MidWinter things done so I can start on the Queen Elizabeth I stockings.

I've done knee high socks and I've done Kilt hose so I'm hoping that I won't be intimidated by these. I just need to get my friends measurements so I can start calculating the pattern.

I work the next two days so probably won't be posting as I'm so tired when I get home. Happy knitting everyone!

Here is some progress on the turquoise socks that are one of my MidWinter gifts. I'm knitting away and along comes this long solid dark section...hhuummm, decided to knit it to see what it did to the pattern. You can see it near the needles. Then along came a knot. It looks strange so I'll take it back out and cut out that section. It looks like the area with the black dots are continued after the knot but I want to make sure that it doesn't double the size of that area. I'll just have to see how it comes out after I tink out that solid dark line then see how much there is of the dotted section after the knot. I still like the color and the patterning that this yarn has. :)

Speaking of yarn, my Aunt sent me a skein of Cherry Tree Hill Champlaign Sunset Sock weight and a super cute pin cushion for my birthday! ! !

Happy knitting, everyone!

Today, we drove up to Taos and Questa. The Aspen are golden as you can see. Yes, the mountain is nicely dark green with bright gold of the Aspen near the top. It's such a beautiful part of the state and I really loved the drive. I spent so much time looking at the scenery that I didn't do any knitting!

As you look at the left side of this mountain, the brown area is one of the massive burn areas. The fire was a few years ago and the burned trees have silvered a bit but underneath the dead trees is new growth. You just can't see it from this distance but you can see how large this one area was.

I wish this picture had turned out better but I had the window up while we were driving because we had really strong winds in addition to the speed of driving. The sun was shining on this patch of aspen and made them actually glow against the dark green of the trees.

Now that I'm home and have eaten dinner I'm here at the computer chatting and knitting for the rest of the night. I hope you enjoyed some of the pictures of Northern New Mexico.

Here is the most recent picture of my Cat Gansey. I left the picture in a large size so you could see the detail better and I'll be darned if the paw prints don't actually show up pretty well. :) Nice silhouette of the back of a cat, two fish on either side, some ladders to play on, and paw prints above and below the central pattern. I'm almost done with the back, then I'll do the front, the collar and the two sleeves. After that, the cap then finish the turquoise socks and my MidWinter presents will be done.

I was going to start something for me... well, I already did that when I started the Booga_J bag which I'm having a blast knitting since it's just round and round and round.... but I was going to start one of my Dale sweaters for me... instead, hopefully, I'll be working on the Queen Elizabeth I stockings if my friend approves the price of the yarn I found.

Of course, I will need something safe as a take along type project and I wouldn't want to damage that yarn so I just might be "forced" to either complete the Primary color socks I started for myself or.. heheheeh get more yarn and make a few more bags. HHuummm, was thinking of maybe using a different yarn for felting and trying to do different color stripes of my own choosing...hhhuummmmmm Time to go looking for felted bag patterns.. nononono I don't really need to do that, yes I do, no I don't, yes I do no yes no yes aarrrggghhhhhhh. ehehheeheheheh

What other yarn felts nicely??

Thursday, October 09, 2003

As promised.... a knitting picture! This is my version of Booga_J's Felted Bag. I'm using Kureyon in color 89 and I love the colors! I'm actually making mine double in size since the ones I have seen on Booga's site seem rather small. I started out with 68 stitches for the bottom but only knit 60 rows. I'm using 10.5 Addi Turbo's now. I started out using my Denise but the yarn really dragged. Now, it zooms right along and I'm much happier.

And now for the last of the SCA pictures from last Saturday. May I present to you The Honorable Lord Connor Graham, the new Defender of St. Golias.

Happy knitting everyone!!!

I know it's been a while since I posted but, truly, I've been busy! hehehe I worked Monday and Tuesday... in charge both days so I was brain-dead by the time I got home. Before that, I was at two SCA events. Yes, I did get knitting done and I'll have pictures of that tomorrow, I promise.

Men wearing armor and defending St. Golias. That is definitely real armor but the weapons are made out of rattan. I've seen the bruises that are left after someone has been hit with this. No blows are held back and the fighters are very skilled at what they do.

Just got my Wool Connection catalog today and found several patterns that I would love to make. Here's one. It's made out of Cotton Lux which they list as an Egyptian cotton. I've never used any cotton for a sweater so have no idea how soft it would be but I do like the pattern. The ruffle dresses up the neckline a bit. The price isn't bad, either. $39.80.

I'm still working on the Cat Gansey. I might have the back finished or very near finished tonight but won't be able to post any pictures... maybe on Sunday depending on how early I get home from the SCA (Society for Creative Anachronism) gathering I'll be at. The stitches show up so much better in natural sunlight then when I take a picture of it inside. I also have an SCA event on Saturday but it's out of town and I'll definitely be home late. Can't work on the Cat Gansey nor the socks there since both recipients will be at the event and I don't want them to see their gifts till they are done. eheh

If any of you have knittied with Cotton Lux or Mercerized Egyptian cotton, please let me know what you think of it.

I also have a friend in the SCA who wants a pair of the Queen Elizabeth I Stockings. I know I won't be able to find nor afford the silk yarn needed to knit them in the original gauge and, though I have found a wonderfully soft silk yarn, I worry that it doesn't have enough stretch for stockings. I was wondering if something like Dale Svale would work. It knits 5.75 stitches/inch on #4-6 needles and is 50% cotton, 10% silk and 40% viscose. Would it work or would it be too heavy a yarn to use?

Please share your thoughts on this! I love getting comments on my blog.

My Mice are winging their way to Wendy as of yesterday so I hope she gets them by Saturday.

I had to stop by my LYS today. While there, I thought I would look to see if I could find DaleGarn book #107. Of course, it's out of print so I'm out of luck in getting the pattern for the Foxes Sweater. Instead, I found DaleGarn book #36 and fell in love with the rainbow colors in the sweater worn by the man. Of course, I do like the Aran style of the cardigan worn by the woman, too, but the rainbow colors are what caught my eye first so I had to add this book to my ever growing pattern collection.

It's made with Freestyle which I've not actually looked for nor felt so I know nothing about this yarn. There is another pullover sweater later in the book that I like, as well, and it's made out of Mimosa Magnolia Monty from what the book said. I've definitely NOT see that yarn.

I'll not give up my search for DaleGarn #107 since I really love that Fox pattern... I just have to keep hunting.... somewhere, someone has to have that book. For now, I'm back to working on the Cat Gansey where I'm almost finished with the chest pattern of the back section.

Now, if I only had more time to knit..........
